Abstract

Translation is a part of real life in situations where two cultures with their respective languages meet. There are authentic situations in which translation is needed. Foreign language students deserve to be exposed to translation techniques because the need to use them in real life is very high. This essay presents a rationale for using translation in the FL classroom. Examples of classroom activities involving translation are offered.
